Anegada meaning “drowned island” is the most northern of the British Virgin Islands. It is also the second largest BVI island and the most sparsely populated of the main islands.
Anegada, which is surrounded by coral is only 28 feet at its highest point. Between April and October, the diving and snorkelling off Anegada is spectacular. Anegada is also home to The Horseshoe Reef which is the fourth largest barrier reef in the world and the largest coral barrier reef in the Caribbean.
It is fun to hire scooters, dirt bikes or bicycles and go and explore the island. There is also a kitesurfing centre on Anegada at the Anegada Beach Club where you can hire kiteboarding equipment and also paddle boards, which are great fun and good exercise too. Lessons are available for novices and advanced kiteboarders alike.
Anegada is almost like a Robinson Crusoe island with miles of unspoilt white sand beaches.
